BBC Nesting Program

BBC's Nesting Basket for the Lake Wales Choices Pregnancy Care Center

The Choices Pregnancy Care Nesting Gift Basket is a simple but meaningful way our church family can come alongside new mothers with love and practical support. Through this program, we invite members to donate essential baby items such as clothing, diapers, formula, blankets, and other necessities that help a mother prepare for her newborn.

Each donated item becomes part of a thoughtfully assembled “nesting” gift basket—designed to ease the burden of those first weeks and remind mothers that they are not alone. These baskets are distributed through Choices Pregnancy Care to women who may be facing challenging circumstances, offering both encouragement and tangible care.

By participating in this ministry, our church has the opportunity to reflect Christ’s compassion in a very real way—meeting physical needs while pointing to the greater hope found in Him. Whether you give one item or many, your generosity helps create a warm and welcoming start for both mother and child.

St. Pauly's Textile Inc.

The joint Mission of St Pauly Textile and Bethel Baptist Church is to collect USEABLE clothing from the Lake Wales community, and successfully redistribute that clothing to people in need nationwide and worldwide.

On our property at Bethel Baptist Church (BBC), St Pauly's has placed a beautiful, portable trailer as the Lake Wales community collection point.

This attractive, well constructed trailer will attract huge amounts of clothing donations from our Community for redistribution to provide for those in disaster relief areas in America, other indigenous peoples in need throughout the world

An EPA study says that 85% of  clothing in the U.S. is ultimately thrown away instead of donated.  This indicates a very low donation rate (15%).

  • St Pauly's collects from 1,400 partnering organizations over 175,000 pounds of clothing per day
  • In 2023 they shipped over 68 million garments,  which clothed an estimated 3 million people
  • As part of this Christian ministry, we invite you to join us in prayer and service as we labor together with God to clothe a world in need.

One More Child – A Mother’s Day Offering

Each year on Mother’s Day, our church participates in the Southern Baptist initiative known as One More Child—a special, designated offering focused on caring for vulnerable children and families.

This ministry exists to serve those in some of life’s most difficult situations, including foster children, hungry children, trafficked children, single mothers, and struggling families. Through the generosity of churches like ours, One More Child is able to provide meals, safe homes, counseling, and ongoing support to those who need it most.

Mother’s Day is a fitting time to give, as we reflect on the value of family and the calling to care for those who are hurting and in need. Your gift goes beyond a single moment—it becomes part of a larger mission to bring hope, healing, and the love of Christ to “one more child.”

We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can participate in this offering. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of children and families who need to know they are seen, valued, and loved.

In the mid-1970’s Pastor Rayburn Blair from Temple Baptist Church in Tallahassee had the vision to start a children’s home. Soon 14 acres of land was soon donated and once funds were raised, ground was broken, construction began, and the Lighthouse opened in October 1977 to provide a temporary home for boys and girls of all ages. In the late 80’s and early 90’s the home transitioned to being a home for troubled teen girls only.

The Lighthouse program is a combination of set schedules, work responsibilities, Biblical counseling and instruction, private education, athletics, extra-curricular activities, family visits, music training and performance, and community involvement – all in an environment of love and structure. We are, above all, a Christian home, and that spiritual emphasis runs through every phase of the program. The girls are required to attend church, maintain personal devotions, memorize Scripture, and gospel music is all that the girls sing. All counseling is done from a Christian, Biblical perspective, and all school, dorm, and administrative personnel are experienced counselors.

If you are a parent or legal guardian interested in possibly placing a young lady (13-17) with the Lighthouse, please call the Lighthouse Children’s Home, (850) 877-3778 for application procedures.

Missionary to Nepal

Ram Narayan Chaudhary and Family

I was born on September 17, 1972 into a Hindu family in Nepal.  We worshipped many gods and goddesses. My mother was frequently afflicted with different sicknesses.  We found no possible nothing or no one to help her.  Meanwhile, I went to India where I met some Christian women who shared the Gospel with me.  However, I opposed them. These Godly women sent a pastor to me.  After he explained the love of Jesus, he handed me some Gospel booklets.  While reading, I came across the portion where Jesus had died for our sins.  I then went to attend a church, and was touched by the message.  We prayed for my mother and God healed her.  One day while I was at home, God began to speak to my heart in a special way.  I repented of my sins and received Jesus as my Savior. Thereafter, tarrying in prayer, my Savior called me to serve Him full time.  After completing a short-term Bible training course, I am now working with Gospel for Asia ministries, a Christian ministry that supports national workers serving as the hands and feet of Christ. I am serving as a missionary in Nepal.

Missionary to Bangladesh

Prosanta Sarker and Family

I was born on August 2, 1990 in a Hindu Family in Bangladesh. One of my classmates, a Christian often told me about Jesus Christ.  Since it was contrary to the teachings of Nimduism, I always opposed him.  One Sunday, I went to his house to have a talk with him.  On that day, the worship service was held in his house.  When I saw the people praising God with joy and peace, I was surprised.  When the pastor preached from the Word, I was convicted of my lost state. My friend prayed with me and I received Jesus as my personal Savior. I Became a changed person. When I witnessed the love of Christ with my friends, many of them responded to the Gospel positively.  The Lord confirmed His call upon me and I enrolled in a Bible School and continue to do missionary work here in Bangladesh.

Missionary to Punjab, India

Vikram Bedi and Family

I was born into a strong Hindu family in India. I have parents and two siblings. My parents spent time faithfully in performing religious rituals to receive blessings but we did not have peace in the family.  Sadly my mother suffered from severe back aches. We had spent a lot of money for her treatment but she did not get cured. Moreover my father was also addicted to alcohol and created a lot of problems in my family.  At this point in time one of our neighbors who was a believer suggested us to go to church. So I along with my mother began to attend the church. As the pastor and the believers fervently prayed for my mother she was healed completely period from then on my faith in Christ began to increase. Thus with a repentant heart I confess my sins and receive Jesus as my personal savior.  Since then I began to spend time in the Lord's presence praying and meditating on his word. I prayed to God to show his specific will in my life. After being confirmed of my call to serve my master I enrolled in Bible school.
